Ingredients
Tri-Tip, 1 Full-Sized Steak
Chipotle Peppers in Adobo Sauce, 5 Peppers
Cumin, 1 Tablespoon
Shoyu, 1/2 Cup
Orange Juice, 1 1/2 Cups
Oil, 3 Tablespoons
Optional: Garlic, 3 Cloves
Optional: Cilantro, 1/4 Cup
Optional: Lime Juice: 2 Tablespoons
Directions

Ingredients

  • 1 full-sized tri-tip steak
  • 1/2 can or 5 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1/2 cup shoyu
  • 1 1/2 cups orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons oil (olive oil or any neutral-flavored oil)

Optional

  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup minced cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice

 

Directions

  1. Blend chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, cumin, shoyu, orange juice, and alive oil to create marinade.
  2. Pour marinade into an airtight bag with tri-tip. Optional: Add minced garlic and cilantro. Refrigerate for 4 to 12 hours.
  3. Let tri-tip come to room temperature and sear all sides on grill or stove top on high.
  4. Smoke at 375 degrees until it reaches and internal temperature of 135 degrees for medium rare (roughly 30-40 minutes).
  5. Let rest for 10 minute and slice against the grain.
  6. This tri-tip is great in fajitas with grilled onions and bell peppers!
  7. Build tacos with corn tortillas, the tri-tip fajitas, avocado, salsa, cheese, and any other topping of your choice.
